Positive Energy Solar Announces Completion of Las Cruces City Hall Solar Carport
“Positive Energy Solar is proud to be creating local jobs and delivering quality solar installations for the City of Las Cruces.” said Positive Energy Solar CEO Regina Wheeler.
The project, consisting of 352 SunPower panels, was finished ahead of schedule and will provide shaded parking for 48 vehicles on the upper-level of the parking garage located at 700 N. Main, while helping to generate electricity to power the building. The cost of the 107.7 kilowatt system was approximately $500,000 and will save the City over $807,000 during the 25-year warranty period of the system. This system will result in about 275,000 fewer pounds of CO2 being emitted into the atmosphere each year.
On Friday, June 7th, at 10AM, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held to celebrate the completion of the new solar parking structure. Positive Energy Solar installed this system, in partnership with Lynco Electric. The project provided work for many other local companies, including Western Fabrication, Stubbs Engineering, and Nova Construction.
“This solar photovoltaic carport on City Hall reduces our operating costs and demonstrates our commitment to clean, affordable solar energy for Las Cruces.” said Mayor Miyagishima.
This is the second project that Positive Energy Solar and Lynco Electric have completed for the City; the first was the installation of a 23 kilowatt solar PV system at the Las Cruces Museum of Nature and Science in 2012.
